Fresh Zone Contest: Dutkowska Agata Graduated with a degree in sociology from the Jagiellonian University, and is currently studying inter-media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. She is fascinated with the city, and especially the history of Krakow and its critical reinterpretation. Professionally guides visitors through the city on alternative routes as a member of the guide group Insiders, the core of which once operated in the anarchist group Pifpaf, conducting interventions in public spaces. The progenitor and co-editor of the guide Kraków Kobiet [Women’s Krakow], which is published in May by the Ha-art publishing house. The work presented at the festival is her Master’s thesis work. |
In the footsteps of Allen Ginsburg through KrakowA performance carried out in the urban spaces of Krakow, in the character of a guided tour through the city “in the footsteps” of Allen Ginsburg, the American poet and counterculture icon, who actually did visit Krakow on three different occasions, in the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s. The creator of the works played the part of a city guide. The performance was based on intensive research concerning all of the traces remaining in the memory of living people who met Allen Ginsburg personally in Krakow, and recognition of the myths and legends that circulate surrounding his stays (conversations, interviews, all written records). On the canvas of those stories, the narration was painted, one that blends fact with fiction, and fictional reconstructions of the topography events which occurred years ago, all on a stroll through the city, blurred through the power of confabulation. The event was consisted of autonomous artistic storytelling, which loosely alludes to the form of guided tours for tourists.  |
