Rypson Piotr, Ruksza Stanisław
Dr Piotr Rypson, (b. 1956 in Warsaw), art critic, art and literature historian, essayist, and specialist in the field of electronic education.
Studied Mediterranean archaeology at the University of Warsaw; his doctoral thesis was on the subject of antique Polish visual poetry for the Polish Language Institute of the University of Warsaw (2000).
Editor-in-Chief of the arts publication Obieg from 1990-94. Head Curator of Collections and Galleries at the Centre for Contemporary Art at the Ujazdowski Castle (1993-1996). Guest lecturer at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, USA (1993-99) and the Museum Studies Porgram at the Warsaw University Institute of Art History (1995-98). Vice-chair of the Polish section at the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) from 1997 to 2002. Chairperson of the Programme Council of the Foksal Gallery Foundation (2001 - )
Vice-president of mindworx Polska, a firm working with e-learning (1999 – 2005) Lecturer at the Miami Ad School Warsaw (2002 – 2003) Responsible for e-learning partnership network at the firm WiedzaNet (2005 – 2007 and member of the board 2007 – 2009)
Author of six books, including Piramidy, słońca, labirynty [Pyramids, the Sun, and Labyrinths] (2002); Książki i Strony. Polska książka awangardowa i artystyczna w XX wieku [Books and Pages. The Polish Avant-garde and Artistic Book in the Twentieth Century] (2000), Obraz słowa. Historia poezji wizualnej [The Picture of the Word. The History of Polish Visual Poetry] (1989) Krzysztof Wodiczko. Sztuka publiczna [Krzysztof Wodiczko. Public Art] (1995) – as well as 150 articles, essays, texts for catalogues, and reviews publishe din Poland and abroad. He has been published, among other periodicals, in Barok, Polityka, Odra, Obieg, Magazyn Sztuki, Machina, Przekrój, Gazeta Wyborcza, Visible Language, Gutenberg Jahrbuch, MAX, Ear Magazine, Meander, domus, and Piktogram.
He has been curator of many exhibition, including those of Zbigniew Libera, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Jarosław Modzelewski, Dick Higgins, Andrzej Dłużniewski, Maria Jarema, and Stefan and Franciszka Themerson.
Member of commissions and social institutions, including the jury of the “Złote Orły” Advertising Festival (2004,2005); of the competition of the Advertising Creators’ Club (2004) member of the Art Council of in the field of creative arts (1999); many-time member of the award jury of the Paszport Polityki award; member of the competition jury for the project to the 52nd International Art Biennale in Venice (2007); member of the Council of the Promotion of Culture (1994 – 2005); Chairperson of the Council of the Foksal Gallery Foundation (2001 – ); member of the Krakow – European Capital of Culture 2000 Programme Council (1995-2000) and others.
Currently working on a book about the influence of technology on poetry and an album on the subject of graphic design in Poland in the inter-war period.

FEST? Panel – on art and impossible communication
Is there room for auto-reflection within the framework of the festival of art in public space? FEST? Panel – about impossible art and communication touched on the problem of the presence and reception of art in the city. We decided to ask exceptionally current questions on the relation between the artist and viewer, specifics of communication in public space, as well as the form used by modern artists.
