Don’t miss it!

The Incarnation is a narration-based city game, whose plot is encoded in the physical space of Krakow’s Kazimierz. A participant will listen to pieces of history memorized by the walls of the city, using an immersive medium – a Mnemoscope – which makes part of the semantic layer of the game.

The participants will follow in the footsteps of a young girl called Urszula. The game will lead them to discover the strange disappearance of Urszula and its circumstances, ultimately to reveal the links between their characters and the main character.
The game involves exploring the real space, created by the streets and buildings of Krakow’s Kazimierz. The players must look for particular locations, which let their memories be heard through a special device – the Mnemoscope.

Equipment
The participants are equipped with a map of Kazimierz and a special device, the Mnemoscope.
The Mnemoscope is a medium reproducing recordings of the events related to Ursula’s story. In this way, a phonic matter is created, recorded by places. Places of interest are marked on the map. Each of them has a special marker, which needs to be scanned by the player, using the Mnemoscope. After they find the marker, players touch the Mnemoscope membrane to its surface and listen to the memories of the place using the device’s headphones.

Rules of the Game

Start – Wyspiański Pavilion, pl. Wszystkich Świętych 2, Festival Office
To start the game, the participants go to Urszula’s house, find a special marker located nearby and using the Mnemoscope, they listen to the memories of the place. On the basis of the actions of the characters, the player decides where to go next. The game proceeds as follows: the player goes to a chosen location, where he or she finds more memories to listen to and advance the investigation. Then, on the basis of the events, they choose the next place to go to. The memories of the places evolve with the plot. If, at a particular point, a given place does not have significant memories, the player will hear substitute ones. In addition, some places have not been marked on the map. The players will need to find those spots on the basis of descriptions supplied by the characters. The game is divided into two parts. A participant may wish to start the game with the second act.
