The first edition of the PEN|POETRY|PROSE|PUBLIC SPACE competition
The first edition of the PEN|POETRY|PROSE|PUBLIC SPACE competition – founded and organised by the Krakow Festival Office – has been launched. The contest is addressed to young artists and concerns urban projects inspired by literature and places with literary connotations. The jury will select 10 best works, and the winners will receive financial awards - PLN 3,000 for the project creation and a PLN 1,000 award. Young artists can submit their entries until the 5th of June 2011.
Inspired by the Milosz Year, the PEN|POETRY|PROSE|PUBLIC SPACE project is being implemented as part of the Milosz Liberated series (Miłosz Wyzwolony). It is addressed to art school students and graduates, who will propose a design for a visual art project drawing upon any literary text or public space with literary connotations. The project is conceived as a long-term initiative to provide an opportunity to see the city through a filter of literary references.
As the competition is launched in the Milosz Year, the first edition of the project will be implemented within the quarter of the poet's last home in Krakow, circumscribed by Sarego/Dietla/Sebastiana/Gertrudy streets.
Competition proposals - including a content-related description (the source of literary inspiration, choice and justification of the potential location; max. 1 A4 page, PDF, DOC), a visualization of the project, specification of technical requirements, creator's CV and a completed entry form – can be filed until the 5th of June to the following address: 4p@biurofestiwalowe.pl
4P contest is a part of Liberated Miłosz – Czesław Miłosz Year celebration in Kraków, which is operated by Instytut Książki. Projcet subsidised with funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
