The pink piano will stay at the Silesian Museum

It’s pink with black pop-art notes all over it, and was made to order for the Krakow Festival Office. The piano could have been seen in Jan Matejko Square in Krakow within the framework of the ‘Chopin in the City’ project till the end of December. It was then lent to the Silesian Museum and will stay there for good.
The pink piano, made from synthetic resin, is a full-scale replica of a Pleyel piano from 1847. The piano is now on display in front of the entrance to the Silesian Museum as part of the modern Polish art exhibition, inspired by Chopin’s life and works. This incredible element of the exhibition is supposed to draw people’s attention to the influence that cultural heritage has had on modern plastic arts. The piano will be soon moved to the museum and become one of the works of art which can be admired there.

The pink piano was designed by a group of artists including Łukasz Lendziński, Mateusz Lendziński and Daniel Wolf, lead by Justyna Koeke.

The pink piano replica was exhibited in plac. Matejko from April to December last year. The piano was part of the ‘Chopin in the City’ project which made it possible for Krakow to celebrate Chopin’s 200th birthday anniversary in an unconventional way.
