The phenomenal Matthew Barney
On Saturday, Pod Baranami Cinema held its first screening of the Matthew Barney’s remarkable film, Drawing Restraint 9, with a soundtrack composed by Björk. A large festival audience attended.
The film is enchanting; produced with Baroque verve, it makes a tremendous impression and maintains suspense from the first images and sounds. Its narrative is filled with symbolism, allegory and allusions. Not a single scene was left to chance. Even for the most minor plotlines, we find elements at the end of the film which draw the logic of the stories to a conclusion. Before viewing Drawing Restraint 9, it would be worthwhile to read this brief description of the film.
For those unfortunate enough to have missed this one, it would be wise to reserve time for the second and last screening of the film, which will take place on Thursday, 19 June at 7 PM at the Cinema-Theatre Uciecha!
